Literature Text

The ocean here's not blue, it's green
or gray, depending on when it's seen
Nor is the sea's water clear
It's all dark and murky here
The beaches here aren't clean and white
Many shells make up a foot's plight
Of those shells, there isn't much to say
They're all black and white and gray
And even when the sky is blue
Or a cloudless night when the moon is new
You can still hear the ocean's song
Though here's it sad and low and long
As melancholy as it seems
This is the place that fills my dreams:
The memories of where I was raised
Ever near to my friend of crashing waves
There's alot of people I know that always automatically think of the clear light blue waters and white fine-sanded beaches like they have at Hawaii if you start talking about the beach and the ocean to them. Well, this is comparing that idea that pops into their minds to the beaches we have here up in New Jersey, Atlantic City in particular. I lived literally one block from the beach for between 7 and 8 years of my life back in Atlantic City. So, as bad as it can be sometimes between the cloudy water and all the shells and the jellyfish, this one's for all the good times!
